About the Role

As a Support Worker across our Residential Services, you will be part of a team who are collectively committed to serving Auckland's most marginalised people with care. 

Duties

  • Contribute to conversations and encourage our clients to build life skills and develop problem solving for independent living.
  • Support clients to access medical, drug & alcohol and social work services in the Mission.
  •  Provide practical assistance and guidance to clients in day-to-day activities.
  • Contribute to case management activities, ensure the client's successful transition into the community & social housing.
  • Provide help onboarding new residents

Skills and Experience

  • Experience working within Mental Health/Community Support environments 
  • Empathetic and supportive of client’s development
  • Practical and level-headed approach to situations 
  • Ability to relate and communicate with people from all walks of life
  • Full clean Drivers Licence

Auckland City Mission has, for over 100 years, provided a range of Social Services for those in desperate need. While the people, their needs and consequently our services have changed over that time our philosophy of giving not charity, but a chance has not.

The services we offer at present are focused on giving a chance to people who are sleeping rough or who are inadequately housed, those who struggle with food insecurity, with drug and alcohol addiction, who need affordable primary healthcare, or any of the above and more.
