About the role
In this role, you will support people to access health, housing, and other social services, using Housing First and Tāiki principles to guide your practice.
Working as part of a diverse team, you will engage with people proactively and through agency and community referrals. Using strong case management and advocacy skills, you will build trust, identify immediate and long-term needs, and respond through a strengths-based approach.
Outreach Keyworkers support individuals and families across a range of settings, primarily community and public spaces, as well as Mission sites and emergency housing.

What you will be doing
- Engage with whānau who are rough sleeping through proactive outreach.
- Develop trusted relationships that support consistent, planned, and coordinated engagement with whānau.
- Use the Street to Home assessment framework to understand whānau needs and inform goal planning.
- Work with team leads to identify and manage risks to whānau wellbeing.
- Provide high-quality support for up to 15 whānau at any one time.
What we are looking for
- Experience supporting people with complex needs, including trauma, mental health concerns, addiction, poverty, and homelessness.
- Capacity to demonstrate through actions commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the Mission’s values of Manaakitanga, Atawhai, Rangapū and Mana Tika, Mana Ōrite.
- Ability to engage effectively with a range of people and support them to complete assessments.
- Knowledge of Housing First and Tāiki principles, and how to apply them when working with whānau.
- A full, clean New Zealand driver licence.
