Front of House Senior - Kaimanaaki Matua

About the role

Front of House, as the waharoa to HomeGround is the first point of connection for all visitors, whānau members and community, the role of Kaimanaaki Matua FOH Senior is to ensure that wairua Māori and mana akiaki permeates all actions and interactions. The service will warmly welcome all visitors, clients, community members; assess their needs and help them navigate to an appropriate support service or destination through a warm handover process.

The Kaimanaaki Matua FOH Senior role supports the leadership of Front of House team and leads the team, in the Team Leader’s absence. 

The team works in partnership with the Mission’s other client facing services of Apartments Concierge, Calder Centre, Street to Home, withdrawal services, Haeata.

Duties

  • Demonstrate the Mission’s spirt of Mana akiaki which is led and instilled from first point of connection, our front of house.
  • Provide a supportive and warm approach to clients’ needs and guide them to the appropriate health and social services.
  • Act in the team leader role in their absence.      
  • Develop and implement initiatives and plans to embed Te Ao Māori in alignment with Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • Support the development of FOH house team regarding training and professional development. This would also include orientation of new staff.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience working with those experiencing homelessness, food insecurity, alcohol or other drug addictions, physical/mental illness. 
  • Strong leadership skills that can empower and motivate others to effectively deliver results.
  • Knowledge of Kaupapa Māori principles and a working knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • Empathy and understanding of issues of trauma, mental health, addiction, poverty and homelessness.
  • Strong links to key stakeholder groups and Māori networks.

Skills, experience and knowledge may also be obtained from a number of different experiences. For example, from paid work, voluntary work, work undertaken within your Church, Marae, or from specific iwi/whānau responsibilities.

About the organisation

Auckland City Mission - Te Tāpui Atawhai supports Aucklanders in greatest need. Our services have evolved as the city’s social needs have changed, and we respond to these needs with care and compassion while advocating for a reality where there are: enough suitable homes, enough money for nutritious food, and easily accessible health care for all.
