Our Mission:

Together we stand with those in desperate need.

We provide immediate relief and pathways to enable long term well-being.

Auckland City Mission has, for 100 years, been enabling positive change among, and on behalf of, those in desperate need. Currently we are experiencing an increase of people in need of our services and require Casual Support Workers to work across our Residential Services. These roles will be on an ad hoc shift basis, and you will likely be asked to cover some weekends, public holidays and depending on the service, Morning, Afternoon and or Night shifts.

Your Role

As a Support Worker you will be invaluable in supporting and assisting our Residential workers with an array of tasks such as:

  • Supporting and encouraging our clients to build life skills and develop problem solving for independent living.
  • Support clients to access medical, drug & alcohol and social work services in the Mission.
  • Provide practical assistance and guidance to clients in day-to-day activities.
  • Assist with the onboarding of new residents.
  • Support case management activities to ensure the client's successful transition into the community & social housing.
  • Conducting room checks
  • Support operations by providing reception cover as needed.

Our Ideal Support Worker

As a Support Worker across our Residential Services your passion will be in working with people, in a challenging environment and being part of a team who collectively are committed to serving Auckland's most marginalised people with care. Ideally you will have:

  • Experience working within Mental Health/Community Support environments
  • Genuine interest in supporting our client’s development.
  • A practical and level-headed approach to situations
  • Ability to relate and communicate with people from all walks of life.
  • Great organisation skills
  • Clear communication skills
  • An upbeat with a ‘can do' attitude.

Internal training will be provided for the right candidates. So, if you are committed to using your skills to help our community, then we would love to hear from you! Apply Now!

Our Values

Manaakitanga is behaviour that acknowledges the mana of others as having equal or greater importance than one's own, through the expression of aroha, hospitality, generosity, and mutual respect.

Committed to equity, and seeking dignity for all we will fearlessly advocate with and for those who are going without.

Firstly, the Auckland City Mission recognises the principle of partnership within Te Tiriti O Waitangi.

Secondly, our commitment to partnership stems from a belief that manaakitanga, equity and social justice need to be pursued both within partnerships and through them.

For us, a partnership is characterised by mutual trust, integrity, respect, transparency, and commitment.
